We are proud to announce that we’ve recruited an extensive team for the RCOS 2026 season, with engineers, physicists, software developers, and mathematicians from a variety of backgrounds. It is an exciting time at Project Elara! But before we start work, I want to record down some of my hopes and wishes for the future.

As we start the new year, Project Elara has been going through some exciting changes. I’m proud to announce that following our first election, Emily has been elected to be Deputy Head of Project Elara!

At Project Elara, we take great pride in our not-for-profit mission - which means transparent funding as well as regular annual financial reports. We are glad to share our completed 2025 financial report.

Project Elara is committed to remaining 100% open-source and not-for-profit. Unfortunately, our model of making most of our work accessible for free presents significant financial sustainability challenges. To raise awareness of this issue, Project Elara gave a presentation highlighting the difficulties facing nonprofits at the Severino Center's 2025 RPI Problem Pitch Competition.

At Project Elara, we believe strongly in our mission to build a better future. But we also understand the need to be grounded in reality and not stubbornly refuse to change when change is needed. For this reason, we're announcing a new, supplemental model of development for the project: community edition libraries.
