Resolution 2026-09-10.1
Passed on September 16, 2026.
A resolution for adopting a uniform policy for the use of Generative AI tools.
We, the members of Project Elara, adopt the following motion:
That a need has arose to delineate clear rules with regard to the use of Generative AI, including large language models (such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, etc.), coding agents (such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, etc.), and other closely-related tools and technologies, which have presently entered widespread use;
That the adoption of an uniform AI policy, developed in accordance with the values of the Project and the principles of the Elara Charter, is necessary to address this need;
That the Project therefore institutes the following policy on the use of Generative AI:
- In accordance with Codeberg policy, vibe-coding is prohibited.
- All Generative AI chats should be archived and uploaded to Project Elara’s AI archive.
- AI must not be used to violate the Code of Conduct or the Charter, and/or to conduct activities evidently contrary to the mission and values of the Project, including (but not limited to) cheating, plagiarism, falsifying data, and manufacturing/promoting false claims.
- AI-assisted machine translation is allowed, but must be overseen by a human translator.
- Exceptions may be made upon consideration of the circumstances.
On this day on September 16, 2026, by the powers vested in the General Assembly, these measures shall come into force.
