Directive 2025-09-26.1

Jacky Song | September 26, 2025

A directive for expanding software license choice for accelerating the development of the Project.

On behalf of the powers vested in me as Director of Project Elara, I implement the following measures:

That among the Project's aims and goals shall always be the development and open sharing of open-source software;

That our sincere aspiration as members of the Project is to dedicate our works to the benefit of others;

That in realizing this aim, it has been our common practice to use a public domain license;

That, however, it cannot be overlooked, that such a license may deter potential contributions for its requirement to surrender all copyright;

That, in light of the present circumstances of the project, as outlined in Directive 2025-07-07.1, policies must be adopted according to the best interests of the Project, and after prudent consideration of their impact;

That I therefore direct the Project to develop community editions of its public domain libraries, software, technologies, etc., which adopt the MIT license, as an alternative license, to ease the difficulties with a pure public domain license;

That this in no way changes the public domain status of the original editions of Project Elara's libraries, software, technologies, etc., which will continue to be developed and maintained; and that this measure is intended to complement our works already in the public domain;

And that on this day on the 26th of September, 2025, I affix my signature:

Signed,

Jacky Song
