Announcing our first Deputy Head of Project Elara!

Jacky Song | January 19, 2026

As we start the new year, Project Elara has been going through some exciting changes. I’m proud to announce that following our first election, Emily has been elected to be Deputy Head of Project Elara!

For some background, the Project Elara team recently voted unanimously to add significant amendments to the Elara Charter. Among these amendments included Section 1.9, which, for the first time, gives Project Elara a formal governance structure. This means the direction of the Project is no longer in the hands of a single person with unlimited powers; we now have a Project Head and a Deputy Head who together form Project Elara’s leadership team, as well as a General Assembly that decides on policy and manages our budget. Altogether, these changes are a major step on the way to becoming a registered nonprofit, and will hopefully set a strong foundation for our future.

With the amendment ratified, we held our first election to elect a Project Head and Deputy Head. As of today, the votes are now in, and I am excited to announce that Emily is officially the first Deputy Head of Project Elara!

For those who don’t know her, Emily has been a deeply enthusiastic supporter of the Project since the day she joined. She has helped me at every turn and avidly followed every update about the Project. And perhaps most importantly, she is deeply compassionate and kind — a true believer in our mission, and a wonderful friend.

With Emily as Deputy Head, I am confident that the Project is in good hands. On behalf of the entire Project Elara team, I offer my congratulations to Emily, Deputy Head of Project Elara!
